Zara:

Age: 13

Kingdom: Tanglewylde

Zara is a bright, spirited, thirteen-year-old girl with red hair and brown eyes. Zara is a daydreamer and go getter always leaves an impression on people with her charming but stubborn personality. Zara idolizes her ancestor Queen Kyra, who saved the five kingdoms of Harmonia during the “Days of Fire” as the last dragon rider. This, along with a desire to upstage her fellow princesses, is she journeys to the Forbidden Woods to find a baby dragon for the Midsummer Recital.

There she meets Wheeler and discovers a destiny that will make her just as important (perhaps greater) then her ancestor, Kyra.

Hi everybody, check out the Tumblr I launched for my new book, Robots vs. Princesses.

Kickstarter is launching soon!

Author’s note: I do not know the intricacies of Hollywood contract negotiations. And I’m aware that every case is unique.  This article is an opinion based what I see as a logical chain of events. If you have knowledge of Hollywood contract negotiations, feel free to leave a comment.

I read there’s a petition to have Zack Snyder fired as director of Justice League. While I agree that he doesn’t understand Superman, echo the sentiments many share of Batman vs. Superman, and am pro-people expressing themselves, I’m going to give the petitioners a dose of reality. (And this applies to super-hero casting as well) Your petition doesn’t matter.

Why? Because if Zack Snyder is announced as director of Justice League it means he’s under contract. That means he cannot be fired or replaced unless he breaks that contract.

Also, Zack Snyder has an agent. Zack Snyder’s agent reviews his contracts before he signs them. Do you really believe that Zack Snyder’s agent would let him sign a contract where Internet outrage was a firing offense? If he’s a good agent, definitely not.

If you want to protest Zack Snyder’s vision, don’t buy a ticket. That’s the only thing you can do. Because unless he breaks his contract or decides he wants out, we’re stuck with him. To paraphrase Jay Sherman, if you think Zack Snyder’s vision stinks, ” just don’t go” because in the end that is all you can do.

Jem03_cvr-MOCKONLY

One of the most hyped releases of 2015 is IDW’s revival of the popular 80’s animated series, Jem and the Holograms. Created by Writer Christy Marx, Hasbro, and Sunbow Productions, the producers of Transformers, GI Joe, and My Little Pony, Jem told the story of a young music executive named Jerrica who moonlighted as the pop star Jem and her struggle to keep control of Starlight Music out of the hands of her enemies. The show was a hit but went into dormancy for over twenty years.

But, nostalgia is powerful and you can’t keep a good series on the shelf. Jem is back, with a live action movie on the way and a brand new comic book. I talked to Jem comic book writer Kelly Thompson about Jem’s lasting appeal and why you should check out IDW’s new comic book.  (more…)

Its the most anticipated number four in comics history, so forgive the hyperbole.

In the right corner, from Topeka, Kansas, the cult that gives cults a bad name. Ladies and gentlemen, the most hated group in America, the Westboro Baptist Church!

To the left, from New York City, accompanied by their mascot, Teddy Mercury, they are the punk rockers cursed to walk the Earth as zombies whenever their music is played. Ladies and Gentlemen, Toe Tag Riot!

Who wins? Who dies? You’ll have to read to find out. Is it any good? Click to find out. (more…)

Yes, you read that headline correctly.

When I started this site, if you told me I’d write about  Archie Comics I’d have called you insane. Even as a kid, I always thought Archie was the comic your parents wanted you to read. He was stuck in 1950. But time’s change and so do publishers.  These past few years Archie Comics has taken steps to show they’ve moved past “Sugar Sugar.”  “Afterlife with Archie,” (A zombie apocalypse starring Archie) reviving their super heroes as the Dark Circle, and killing off the main character, have shown that Archie is a company that is not afraid of taking risks. The latest move is a crossover with Predator. Published by Dark Horse Comics,  is “Archie vs. Predator” the most absurd crossover since “Archie meets the Punisher“? Lets find out.
