“We want female superhero movies!” say fans. “But women don’t sell tickets,” say execs. The argument’s been done to death. It’s time for concrete proof. And YOU have can provide that proof. So get off your keyboard and buy a ticket to Wonder Woman on opening weekend.

Why? Because despite being an icon, who hasn’t had a feature film, comicbook.com projects Wonder Woman as having the LOWEST DCEU OPENING WEEKEND! This means one thing, it’s up to us fans to make this movie a success.

In 2000, CrossGen Comics launched. Founded by millionaire Mark Alessi, CrossGen sought to expand the comics industry by forgoing super-hero titles and focusing on the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Victorian Mystery, and Sword and Sorcery genres. Each of CrossGen’s titles stood on their own but was tied to a greater mythology thanks to a Sigil, which was the source of many characters powers.

The “sigil bearers” were supposed to join forces against a cosmic threat called the Negation in the mini-series, NEGATION WAR that would cap off four years of stories. Many are wondering what Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm means for the Star Wars comic books currently being published by Dark Horse Comics. Dark Horse President Mike Richardson has this to say:
“Dark Horse and LucasFilm have a strong partnership which spans over 20 years, and has produced multiple characters and story lines which are now part of the Star Wars lore. Star Wars will be with us for the near future. Obviously, this deal changes the landscape, so we’ll all have to see what it means for the future.” -Mike Richardson, President of Dark Horse Comics, Inc.

Dan Jurgens didn’t really kill Superman, but he did write Superman #75, the penultimate issue of the infamous “Death of Superman” storyline, where the Man of Steel fell defending Metropolis from the unstoppable monster known as Doomsday. The issue would go on to be one of the highest selling comic books of all time, spawning multiple printings, a media sensation, and creating a boom period in comics industry. So, how did this story come about? That and many other questions about Dan’s illustrious career is only one part of my conversation with writer/artist Dan Jurgens. (more…)
