Between Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm and the announcement of Episode’s VII-IX, interest in galaxy, far, far, away is hitting a fever pitch and it couldn’t be a better time for Dark Horse to launch a brand new, new reader friendly, comic book. Many are wondering what Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm means for the Star Wars comic books currently being published by Dark Horse Comics. Dark Horse President Mike Richardson has this to say:
“Dark Horse and LucasFilm have a strong partnership which spans over 20 years, and has produced multiple characters and story lines which are now part of the Star Wars lore. Star Wars will be with us for the near future. Obviously, this deal changes the landscape, so we’ll all have to see what it means for the future.” -Mike Richardson, President of Dark Horse Comics, Inc.

As a life long comic book fan I’ve had to constantly deal with people who look down upon the medium saying it’s only “for kids” or “nerds” and other juvenile statements. But when I read Tim Marchman’s article from the May 25th edition of The Wall Street Journal, and his condescending and scathing remarks about the medium I love, I could no longer stay silent.
